Sacha Power – Founder & Director of Huggabubba Ltd
My experience of providing Baby & Child safety equipment came from a previous role where I was dealing with Council & Government funded schemes who were running accident prevention programmes, usually in areas of high deprivation throughout the UK. I was responsible for Buying & also for dealing with the installation teams who were going out into the community fitting this child safety equipment. I built up an extensive knowledge of the Nursery industry and knew all the good, robust pieces of essential safety equipment plus the inside knowledge on how easy were they to put together & actually use. Having the right piece of equipment & making sure that the end user could fathom out how it worked was the key to reducing the risk of accidents in & around the home where there were children under 5.
I had the idea to expand this from the domestic setting into to the commercial industry as I became more aware of the varying levels of equipment that was available in restaurants & Hotels for visiting families. I started up Huggabubba in 2007 and after promoting my business with a selection of highchairs, travel cots & bedding, I managed to win the trust of my first client – a very well known & popular ‘High St’ brand. My client base & product knowledge has grown in this time along with my own family when I became the Mother of twins back in 2011.
This gave me even more market research to discover what was available in the commercial industry for a new Mum of 2 babies. It was the best market research I could’ve wished for & made me understand the importance of what the equipment provided for families with small children when they are out & about.
More & more people want to travel as a family, eat out with the kids or just fill up on the caffeine & meet fellow parents for some sort of social life so it makes a huge difference when you visit somewhere that accommodates you all. It lets you know that children are very much welcome which in turn allows you, the parent, to have a bit of your life back too ?
In Sacha’s spare time she enjoys theatre visits, baking, cocktails, enjoying the beautiful Norfolk coast & most of all, getting huge enjoyment out of seeing her children happy & content.
